Fox News reports said Roy's walk to half-court was a more significant story than Kobe Bryant's "comeback" from scandal. The "comeback award goes to Roy Horn of Siegfried and Roy, just for successfully walking out to half court with Siegfried to welcome everyone to the game three years after he was mauled by a tiger."
We agree. We were also fascinated by the story behind the story. Why would the retired magicians make their appearance at this game? The NBA usually rewards a franchise city with the star-studded All-Star fest, so Sunday's showcase was unusual for the NBA and Las Vegas.
Las Vegas does not have an NBA franchise and is not currently scheduled to receive on by either expansion or relocation of an existing team. Strange, no?

 Magician Hans Klok Becomes Electra
The beautiful Carmen Electra and incredible Dutch illusionist Hans Klok will debut a new "night-long production show" in the former home of Steve Wyrick at the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood.
The Luxe Life broke the story on St. Valentine's Day but was not able to receive confirmation until this evening.
Miss Electra was invited to partner with Mr. Klok because "nobody's ever heard of him here outside of magic circles."
We proudly admit no one had ever heard of us outside of crop circles.
Mr. Klok is "the self-proclaimed fastest magician in the world."
His publicity people compare his work to Vegas regular and the world's most traveled magician, David Copperfield.

Robin Leach is becoming the de facto Criss Angel biographer.
Their paths cross more often than simultaneous field sobriety test subjects.
We don't look to Mr. Leach for the hard-hitting Mike Wallace type of news. Nay, Mr. Leach's style is to celebrate with and for the celebrity subject. The news won't contradict public relations efforts -- but it will often scoop press releases and public announcements. A case in point: Mr. Leach had confirmation of Mr. Angel's deal to produce a multi-million dollar magic show at the Luxor in partnership with Cirque du Soleil. As far as we know, this has yet to be formally confirmed by any of the parties. |

Magician Simon Winthrop brought Palm Beach International Airport and its surrounding environs to a screeching, irritable halt Saturday when TSA inspectors found a butane container in his luggage.
Mr. Winthrop just performed a Super Bowl party at the swanky Versace Mansion for Don Shula and others in the hoi-polloi of South Miami Beach.
The butane container was not an untoward weapon but part of the magician's spectacular act. According to
The Palm Beach Post, Mr. Winthrop uses the butane to "shoot flames from his wrists." |

Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brooks appear to be mild-mannered proprietors of the incredible Houdini Museum nestled into the Pocono Resort area.
During the summer months they teach and entertain guests with tours, lectures, and magic shows related to Houdini and his legend.
The Houdini Museum takes on a different, less hospitable complexion as the sun sets and darkness covers the museum.
The Houdini Museum's Psychic Theater has been featured in the national media for its frightening tour of terror, Haunted! Mind Mysteries and The Beyond. |

The incredible neuroanatomist Dr. James Papez asked in 1937 "Is emotion a magic product, or is it a physiologic process which depends on an anatomic mechanism?"
Are we a ghost in a machine or are we controlled by our limbic system?
Either way, those emotions can get out of hand or when they do, mania is the result. The DSM-IV Criteria for Mania tells us there are two types: hypo and hyper.
We humbly suggest that on the 26th of February, a new mania will be introduced to the world of neuroanatomy - Maynia. |
