The Australian film community is all abuzz about its most recent crop of feature films awaiting release this year.
We're all abuzz about just one of the nine films, Death Defying Acts.
The film tells the story (fictional, we think) of Harry Houdini (not his real name) meeting up with a Scottish psychic played by Catherine Zeta-Jones. Guy Pearce stars as Houdini. But the point is Catherine Zeta-Jones is in the film.
The plot is simple enough: Catherine Zeta-Jones uses her Scottish-Psychic charms to seduce the young magician from the U.S.

Maria Ibanez continues to impress. She sent information about The Society of American Magicians' newest offering to the magic community, SAMTALKING.
Ms. Ibanez is seemingly tireless in her work as president of the world's oldest magic organization.
If you are a member of SAM, you will be able to register and get in on the real-time discussions with your colleagues.
If you have not yet joined the Society, perhaps this will spur you into action. The Society is rich with history (it traces its roots back to Harry Houdini, the First President); and its on-line offerings are relevant and useful for the working magician.

Bang! Showbiz reports Lindsay Lohan has been spotted enjoying a romantic evening with Cameron Diaz 's alleged boyfriend Criss Angel.
"The Mean Girls star was seen holding hands with the 39-year-old magician at Las Vegas nightclub Pure on Saturday before the pair left together at 5am." According to some -- not us -- the couple went back to Miss Lohan's hotel suite.
Need we remind any reader that Las Vegas is a tough town?
Mr. Angel, always the gentleman, probably just wanted to make sure the young actress made it home safely at 5:00 am.

The Daily Echo (UK) proudly proclaims the success of young Ben Farrar - this year's The Magic Circle's Young Magician of the Year.
Mr. Farrar is a mere 16 -- the contest permits magicians up to 18 years-old -- but demonstrated the poise and skills necessary to win. The Magic Circle holds the competition every two years.
Mr. Farrar goes by the stage name of Ben Hart and is a student about to enter his "A-Levels at Peter Symonds College in September studying biology, chemistry, psychology and drama and theatre studies."
We have no idea what A-Levels are but we loved The A-Team so we figure it has to be a good thing.
Mr. Farrar a/k/a Mr. Hart, said he was surprised to win. "It was a shock. It is a very prestigious title. I have always found magic interesting. I like the interaction with people, in a nice way trying to fool them, yet giving them enjoyment."
