Okay, follow us but not too closely.
Remember a long time ago -- maybe a year ago -- when all the world was
a buzz on account of David Blaine hanging (pun intended) with David
Copperfield at a special show put on by Todd Robbins?
You don't remember it? Well, you're not going to care about the rest
of this story. You have to have the very basics of our conspiracy
theory before this new development makes sense.
For those of you still with us -- or at least available when we call
drunk at 3:30 in the morning telling you we're sorry and begging you to
"no more thinks we donut love ewes" -- let's proceed.
The big story in the meeting back then was that David Copperfield and
David Blaine were actually at the same club watching a fantastic
magician who later appeared on a Criss Angel episode. You remember the
one with the Hummer and the bed of nails? Yeah, that one. |

This morning's Boston Globe comments on the recently released report on the causes of stress on the City's young people.
The report was prepared by Dr. Jack Shonkoff, a top researcher from Brandeis University in the area of "toxic stress."
Toxic stress describes the influence of "adverse effects on a young
person's physical and mental health resulting from chronic exposure to
dangerous and doleful conditions, including exposure to violence and
maltreatment."
The doctors determined frequent activation of the body's system to
respond to stress can damage that part of a child's brain considered
essential for learning and memory. |

The irreverent but always relevant Gothamist has a piece today about
David Blaine's latest project in the making. It begins with the exasperated ejaculation,
"Holy Mother of God!"
He isn't sure what he wants to do, but he reveals in his
interview with the New York Post his penchant for big things -- big things with
ties to New York.
Somehow Mr. Blaine hopes to involve the Brooklyn Bridge. That's about as far as the planning has
developed.
"Challenging myself on this bridge has been my lifelong
dream." And some people dream of finding a cure for cancer! And this would
certainly be a challenge for the NYPD to secure the bridge. |

According to Riley Boyd, 19-year-old phenom, the opposite of
easy is Magic.
This means one of two things: Mr. Boyd will do horribly on
the Miller's Analogy portion of his school standardized testing; or he is a
magician dedicated to working hard at his craft.
The Mountain News (Canada) has a
great feature on this up-and-comer in today's edition.
Mr. Boyd works with his partner, Snowy the dove, to
constantly improve his act and expand his client base.
He studied fine arts and multi-media at Canada's prestigious McMaster University
to augment his performance. He's been
augmenting since he was in third-grade. |

Straight .com features David Gifford for his
artistic and magic presentation set to run through Satuday, June 17th
in Vancouver.
Mr. Gifford commented to an assembled audience at his most
recent exhibition, "It takes a lot of work to achieve that divine
awkwardness."
We think that is a great line and intend to steal it. Of course we'll add our own divine twist to
it by slurring or getting the words out of order.
Mr. Gifford believes there is a common job or passion
betwixt magicians and artists.
He demonstrated his thesis by performing a magic show in the
midst of the gallery displaying his art work. |

Disney Live! Mickey's Magic Show received outstanding
reviews from The Atlanta Constitution
in today's edition.
We were impressed the paper included a statement from Jim Steinmeyer, Master
Illusion Genius, Magic Historian and Author.
"It was great to give Mickey a chance to really shine as a magician and to
give him some great illusions that he can perform," Steinmeyer said.
He explained the message of the show: "Through the character of Benny
Boyle, audiences learn that ... if they continue to practice and believe, they
can make their own magic in life."
More than 40 illusions are performed in the show ranging from "campy"
to "a few that will actually have you saying, 'How did they do
that?!"
We perform the occassional kid's show but have never once had a birthday boy or
girl ask for or about his or her "mojo."
But Disney is far more attuned to the needs and desires of kids than
parents.
So the plot of the Disney Live! involves a young magician's apprentice hoping
to find his Mojo.
We once helped our aunt find a new muumuu. It too seemed magical but more
like Multim in Parvo Plus.

The Spooner Advocate (WI) reports Mike Norton performing as Magik Mike, will return to the Church of the Nazarene in Spooner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21 at the Church of the Nazarene.
You may recall our coverage of Magik Mike's previous appearance at the the very same venue about three years ago. He was a big success and "filled the seats and then some."
The event is a part of the church’s week-long festivities for the new addition to the building.
A free-will offering will be taken.
Mr. Norton is a gifted storyteller and magician who travels the Midwest presenting family programs, adult retreats, outreach events and summer camps. |
